Senior Development Scientist - Advanced Materials

iGii has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Development Scientist to join the Advanced Materials team. This multidisciplinary team comprises 4 experienced scientists and engineers working across the entire R&D scope. If you want to work closely with Gii, this is the role for you.


Purpose

The Senior Development Scientist will drive the development of new Gii technologies and identify innovative applications across industries. Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, the role focuses on advancing core technology and contributing to the company's long-term technical strategy.


What you will do


Advanced materials development

* Develop new processes or refine existing ones to optimize materials development and create new forms of Gii.
* Manage complex projects, collaborating across departments to meet strategic goals within project parameters.
* Stay updated with recent developments in advanced materials to generate new ideas and evaluate materials.
* Maintain an understanding of other technical processes and their implications for experimental design and conclusions.


Characterisation and testing

* Characterise and test materials using techniques like Raman spectroscopy, SEM, XPS, and others, to derive technical insights.
* Manage procurement and use of analytical equipment, advising on modifications as needed.


Experimental planning and execution

* Design experiments and manage project schedules.
* Conduct electrochemical testing for proof-of-concept development and device evaluation.
* Fabricate devices with standard and new designs, including CAD design based on requirements.


Data analysis

* Utilise tools for data management and analysis, including proprietary software and custom scripts (e.g., Python).
* Evaluate experimental outcomes critically and make recommendations based on a broad knowledge base.


Technical reports

* Prepare weekly technical reports, quarterly summaries, and handover documentation.
* Create and maintain standard operating procedures and technical documentation.
* Document critical experimental observations impacting IP or production.


Other responsibilities

* Support other projects within the Advanced Materials and Engineering teams.
* Travel to other sites for testing, training, or conferences as needed.
* Ensure IP protection, including offsite work and networking.


Who we are looking for

This role requires expertise in advanced materials with a relevant MSc or PhD, or equivalent experience.

* At least 2 years of project delivery in areas like carbon nanomaterials, new product development (sensor, energy storage, catalysis), and materials analysis.
* Strong practical experience with characterization tools (Raman, XPS, SEM, etc.).

Necessary skills include hands-on laboratory work, scale-up experience, data analysis proficiency, project management, IP awareness, and excellent communication skills.
