Building Condition Surveyor
Job description
We are currently seeking a highly motivated and professionally competent individual to join our Strategic Property & Valuation team as a Building Condition Surveyor within the Facilities Management section. Our team plays a vital role in safeguarding the Council&s assets and ensuring our maintenance budget is directed where it is needed most. You&ll be joining a collaborative and caring environment, where your expertise will help shape the future of our county borough.
As a Building Condition Surveyor, you will:
1. Undertake condition surveys on the Authority&s property portfolio.
2. Carry out building condition surveys on a wide range of buildings.
3. Attend departmental and inter-departmental meetings, producing reports and giving advice as required.
4. Assist in producing and defending dilapidation claims (wants of repair).
5. Undertake detailed design works and specifications.
6. Develop tender documentation and prioritise capital budgets.
7. Support the day-to-day running of the Facilities Management Section.
8. Contribute to the delivery of the Corporate Asset Management plan.
Your daily routine will include:
9. Conducting building condition surveys and access audits.
10. Producing concise, accurate and informative reports.
11. Using AutoCAD and other IT packages for drafting and data management.
12. Attending meetings and presenting findings at a senior level.
13. Managing and prioritising budgets and resources.
14. Collaborating with other professionals across the Council.
Do you have:
15. Experience of working on a wide range of property-related issues and undertaking building condition surveys/access audits of a wide range of buildings?
16. Excellent knowledge of Building Surveying, condition surveys and building management?
17. Competence in using computerised drafting software (AutoCAD) and Microsoft IT packages?
18. Experience of producing reports and presenting them at a senior level?
19. Experience of the tender and procurement process?
20. A relevant building surveying related degree?
21. Strong communication and interpersonal skills?
22. Ability to travel extensively throughout the County Borough Council and a flexible approach to work?
We would welcome those with experience in the following roles: Building Surveyor, Property Surveyor, Facilities Manager, Asset Manager, or similar roles with relevant qualifications and experience.
