Overview
We are recruiting a Paediatric Physiotherapist to join our community-based service across the borough of Walsall. The post involves a caseload of children and young people with neurological and developmental conditions, working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
We are an integrated Children’s physiotherapy service providing assessment and intervention for children and young people aged 0-19 years with a range of physical and developmental conditions, complex needs and life-limiting conditions. We may consider a Band 5-6 development post for the right candidate.

We are looking for an enthusiastic HCPC registered Physiotherapist who can communicate effectively with children of all ages and is passionate about paediatrics. The role involves working with multidisciplinary and multi-agency teams to deliver highly specialist interventions according to care pathways, and collaborating within the integrated team and the wider MDT to support the Team around the Child approach.
The work will primarily involve delivering care in a variety of settings including special and mainstream schools within the borough, clinics, children’s centres and patient homes. You will work closely with the child, family and other professionals involved in the child’s care.
There is an opportunity to develop clinical experience in areas including neonatal inpatient care and follow-up, 0-5 complex case management, long-term conditions, CPIP and SEND.
Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is the integrated Trust and provider of NHS acute care in Walsall, serving a population of 284,300. The Trust operates across Manor Hospital and in the community, with modern facilities and a focus on multi-agency, person-centred care aligned to SEND.
Multi-agency working is a major part of the role, enabling safe, joined-up, person-centred care. The service contributes to the SEND agenda, including EYSEN, and maintains effective relationships with local authority colleagues and the wider MDT.
To develop and maintain effective working relationships with parents/carers and other stakeholders using negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills; to promote excellence in clinical practice with reference to current research and evidence-based practice; and to contribute to safe, effective practice in paediatrics.

Responsibilities include specialist assessments, developing and implementing programmes of care, case management with the MDT, clinical decision-making for complex cases, and planning interventions for individuals and groups in line with pathways. You may also mentor colleagues in line with the local delegation policy and work with children and families to develop personalised care plans to support goals and participation. You will provide appropriate treatment based on best practice and advise other professionals and parents on home/school support needs.
This post involves managing a mixed caseload of children and young people and working in partnership with families and carers.
Interviews will be conducted face to face.

Responsibilities
* Deliver specialist assessments and therapy to children and young people with neurological and developmental conditions in line with service pathways.
* Develop and implement programmes of care for clients, families and their environments.
* Collaborate with multi-disciplinary and multi-agency colleagues to coordinate care and referrals for complex cases.
* Make clinical judgments and decisions for complex cases, including discharge decisions, within a team approach.
* Deliver interventions in a variety of settings (schools, clinics, homes) and in groups or one-to-one sessions.
* Mentor and delegate therapy programmes to technical instructors as per local policy.
* Develop personalised care plans with children and their parents/carers to support goals and participation.
* Provide treatment based on best practice and advise on home/school support needs.
Qualifications
* HCPC registered Physiotherapist with ability to communicate with children of all ages.
* Experience in paediatrics or a strong motivation to gain paediatric experience.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a multi-disciplinary setting.
* Full driving/vehicle access for work purposes.
