Early Career Teacher (Economics) Contract Type: Full-time Permanent Work Start Date: 01/09/2026 Location: Enfield, North London Salary: £37,870 per annum Hours of Work: 8:30am – 4:00pm, Monday to Friday (Term Time Only) Salary will be paid at M1 in line with the Outer London Main Pay Scale and is suitable for an Early Career Teacher beginning their teaching career. About the Role We are recruiting on behalf of an Outstanding Ofsted-rated secondary school in Enfield for an Early Career Teacher (Economics). This full-time, permanent role starting September 2026 offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious ECT to begin their teaching career in a supportive and forward-thinking school environment. The successful candidate will join a thriving Humanities and Social Sciences department, teaching Economics at Key Stages 4 and 5 (depending on experience) while developing their practice through a structured ECT induction programme. You will help students understand economic theory, finance and global markets, while building strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Requirements To be eligible for this role and the stated salary, applicants must have: • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or be currently completing teacher training • A degree in Economics or a related subject • Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for Economics • Excellent communication and organisational skills • A commitment to professional development and reflective practice Key Responsibilities Teaching & Learning • Plan and deliver engaging Economics lessons across KS4 and KS5 (depending on experience) • Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level examinations • Use effective assessment strategies to monitor progress and support attainment ECT Development • Participate in the ECT induction programme, including mentoring and CPD • Work with experienced colleagues to develop strong classroom practice Student Support • Maintain high expectations for behaviour, engagement and academic progress • Encourage analytical thinking and real-world understanding of economic issues Wider School Contribution • Attend department meetings, CPD sessions and parents’ evenings • Contribute to enrichment activities and the wider school community The Ideal Candidate Will • Be passionate about teaching Economics and inspiring students • Demonstrate strong classroom management and communication skills • Be committed to helping students reach their full academic potential • Be eager to develop professionally through a structured ECT programme What the School Can Offer • An Outstanding Ofsted-rated school, including strong Sixth Form provision • A supportive ECT induction programme with experienced mentors • Excellent professional development opportunities • A welcoming and collaborative teaching environment • Motivated students and a well-resourced department Why work via Teach Now?
