Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a GP to join our team to cover 3 to 4 sessions per week in a friendly, dynamic, and forward‑thinking, single‑site surgery in Harrogate. The practice sits in modern, purpose‑built premises in the historic spa town and brings together the Union of East Parade and Park Parade Surgeries. We are progressive, value patient‑centred care, and offer a supportive, well‑retained team with daily GP coffee meetings.
Main duties of the job
In accordance with the practice timetable, the post‑holder will be available to undertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations, eConsultations, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
* Actioning a share of blood results and incoming clinical documents, both paper and electronic
* Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self‑referred or referred from other health care workers
* Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
* Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
* Offering preventative advice
* Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease‑management protocols
* Referring to other care providers as appropriate
* Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
* Collecting data for audit purposes
* Prescribing in accordance with the CCG or practice prescribing formulary whenever this is clinically appropriate
In general, the post‑holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
About Us
Situated in the beautiful spa town of Harrogate, close to the Yorkshire Dales, we serve an urban and suburban population of just under 16,000 patients. The practice has six GP partners and nine salaried GPs, a shared clinical administration, data quality, and medical secretary service, and a highly skilled nurse team led by a lead nurse. We hold formal responsibility for three elderly care homes and two learning‑disability care homes and assign nominated GP leads for safeguarding, QOF, finance, patient services, women’s health, prescribing, palliative care, diabetes and nursing care.

Qualifications
* MBBS or equivalent medical degree
