We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Behaviour & Classroom Lead to join a welcoming secondary school in the Newport area. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact by supporting pupils aged 11–16 in a school shaped by the ethos: “A school for all, where everyone succeeds.” The school has a strong culture of teamwork, inclusion and mutual respect, and pupils and staff take pride in being part of its vibrant community.
The school has an excellent behaviour culture built on a comprehensive Behaviour Curriculum, delivered consistently by tutors. Pupils are respectful, considerate and calm in lessons and around the school. They feel safe, enjoy school life and know how to seek support when needed.
You will also support the school’s well-established ALN provision for pupils with learning difficulties. This nurturing setting offers tailored interventions that help pupils make strong progress from their starting points. Pupils can access the Student Support Centre for guidance, or visit ‘Cwtch’, a warm wellbeing hub providing sensitive emotional and pastoral support.
⭐ About the Role
As the Behaviour & Classroom Lead, you will supervise classes during short-term teacher absences, ensuring pupils stay engaged, focused, and on task. Strong subject knowledge is an advantage—whether your strengths lie in maths, science, English or another subject, there will be opportunities to use them when covering lessons. You will also support general classroom cover across the school; all lessons are pre-planned for you, so your focus is on behaviour management, engagement and ensuring work is completed.
You will need to be:
Confident, adaptable and proactive when supervising classes across KS3 & KS4
Able to create a positive, focused learning environment
Comfortable covering any classroom and subject when required
Professional, reliable and committed to supporting pupils’ success
Confident applying behaviour management and de-escalation strategies

Experience working with young people (education, coaching, youth work, mentoring etc.)
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain)
EWC registration (or willingness to obtain)
Must be 18+
Strong understanding of the school curriculum and core subjects
A genuine interest in education and supporting young people
