The Senior Technical Service Technologist - Plant-based proteins is responsible for providing outstanding technical customer experience and driving innovation to create superior, customer-centric solutions. The incumbent is an expert in formulating, applying ingredients, understanding structural & functional relationships, and food processes. As the subject matter expert for plant-based proteins, they actively collaborate with the technical team to share knowledge related to texture and healthful solutions.
Core Responsibilities:
Customer technical support:
* Act as the lead technical contact for assigned customers and key accounts, providing comprehensive technical expertise throughout the innovation process to meet business growth targets.
* Conduct application trials involving formulation and process development or fine tuning, either with customers or at customer sites. Proactively develop ideas and utilize customer feedback to create innovative food solutions.
* Evaluate customer recipes, ingredients, and processes to diagnose problems and recommend solutions based on food technology knowledge.
* Organize and facilitate visits to and from customers at the Ingredion Idea Labs, including planning trials, meetings, and venues. Understand customer needs and collaborate with the business team to deliver solutions.
* Record and share customer activities and project updates in the CRM system.
NPD knowledge sharing & stakeholder collaboration:
* Analyze and resolve complex technical issues, improving or adapting existing techniques.
* Build strong relationships with stakeholders across technical, commercial, and distribution teams to prioritize projects and maximize business return.
* Document technical work centrally and communicate results internally and externally.
* Evaluate customer and competitor portfolios to gain insights and share knowledge.
* Collaborate within an international organization, leveraging global resources for local requirements and participating in cross-functional teams.
Qualified candidate will have:
* A degree or equivalent in Food Technology, Food Engineering, or a relevant discipline.
* Excellent knowledge of proteins, especially plant-based proteins, including functionality, flavors, interactions, and processing.
* Significant experience in Technical Service, NPD, R&D, or Applications in specialty food ingredients.
* A successful track record of delivering product innovations.
* Advanced understanding of equipment and technologies for laboratory and pilot plant trials.
* Ability to travel regionally up to 40% of the time.
