We are seeking an experienced and detail‑oriented Payroll Manager to join our team on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract, supporting accurate payroll delivery. What you will do as Payroll Manager (Maternity Cover): Manage end‑to‑end payroll operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and full statutory compliance. Partner with Finance on payroll audits, labour cost reconciliation, and financial reporting. Implement and maintain strong payroll controls, governance, and HMRC‑compliant processes. Perform manual payroll checks to validate system outputs and support audit requirements. Monitor legislative changes and best practices, advising leaders on required updates. Collaborate with department heads to ensure timely communication and processing of payroll changes. Resolve employee payroll queries and produce required reports for leadership, HMRC, and pension providers. Analyse labour costs, provide strategic payroll insights, and maintain dashboards for senior decision‑making. Oversee benefits administration, including renewals, provider relationships, enrolments, and accurate payroll integration. Working Hours: Monday- Friday 9am – 6pm What are we looking for? Proven experience (5 years) in managing complex payroll operations across multiple entities. Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, tax regulations, and benefits compliance. Advanced proficiency in payroll systems and HRIS platforms. Experience with payroll processing software and systems (Dayforce highly desirable). Payroll certification (e.g., CIPP, or other relevant qualifications) is preferred.
