What You’ll Be Doing
Design and review electrical systems including power distribution, control, automation, and instrumentation for advanced marine technologies
Specify and integrate control systems such as PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and interfacing components
Produce comprehensive technical documentation including wiring diagrams, cable schedules, load calculations, and system architecture
Collaborate closely with naval architects, mechanical engineers, and software developers to ensure seamless system integration
Ensure designs comply with key marine standards and regulations (e.g. DNV, ABS, Lloyd’s Register, IEC)
Prepare technical specifications to support procurement, vendor selection, and production planning
Contribute to vessel integration designs and support shipboard installation projects
Provide remote and on-site support during commissioning, sea trials, and handover phases
What You’ll Bring
Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent professional qualifications
Solid background in marine electrical systems design and integration
Practical understanding of shipboard power systems, switchboards, generators, and battery storage
Experience with PLCs and VFDs, including specification and implementation
Proficiency with CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN)
Familiarity with marine regulatory frameworks and safety standards
Comfortable working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting capabilities
Willingness to travel for installations, commissioning, client support, and shipboard inspections
Desirable Extras
COMPEX or equivalent certification for hazardous area equipment
Experience in PLC coding and programming
Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership
