Job Overview

Band 8B 0.8 hours (30 hours)

Base: Wayside House Coventry. However, as part of your role you will be required to travel throughout Coventry and Warwickshire. This role also incorporates remote and agile working.

We The Childrens Intensive Support Team are seeking a committed and passionate Principal Clinical Psychologist looking for an opportunity to make a difference in improving outcomes for our young people. In addition to providing a high quality, specialist applied psychology service the post holder will join the Childrens IST Leadership Team and be responsible, in conjunction with the Consultant Clinical Psychologist, for the supervision and governance of the team. In addition, to support psychological practice within the team through consultation, supervision, formulation and training.

We are a rapidly evolving service and as such there will be considerable opportunities to utilise research, audit and service development skills across the service. The ability to respond quickly and confidently within crisis situations is an essential part of this role.

The teams work systemically to understand and support the significant impact and challenges experienced by our service users. To do this, we work with the network around the person (e.g., Social Care, Education) and work closely with commissioners. As a Clinical Psychologist you will have experience of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working as you will need to attend regular MDTs, CETRs and EMDTs.

The successful applicant will be required to provide input to the service in the form of specialist assessments and psychological interventions, team formulation, consultation, training, service evaluation and supervision of other qualified staff.

Your role will entail working directly with the service users and their families or carers and, as such, experience of working with young people who are autistic or have a learning disability and have mental health needs is essential.

Responsibilities

* Supervision and governance of the team in conjunction with the Consultant Clinical Psychologist.
* Support psychological practice within the team through consultation, supervision, formulation and training.
* Respond quickly and confidently within crisis situations.
* Work with the network around the person (e.g., Social Care, Education) and commissionally.
* Attend regular MDTs, CETRs and EMDTs.
* Provide specialist assessments and psychological interventions, team formulation, consultation, training, service evaluation and supervision of other qualified staff.
* Work directly with service users and their families or carers, especially young people who are autistic or have a learning disability and mental health needs.
* Play a key role in team formulations and strengths and challenges approach to help understand relationships within families.
* Support the application and evaluation of similar approaches.
* Provide consultation within the MDT and externally, joint working with other agencies, participation in service development, research and business meetings and provide supervision (where appropriate) to other psychology staff or team members providing psychologically informed interventions.


Qualifications & Experience

* Principal Clinical Psychologist with experience leading and governing teams.
* Experience working with young people who are autistic or have a learning disability and have mental health needs.
* Strong understanding of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working, with evidence of attending MDTs, CETRs and EMDTs.
* Capability to respond quickly and confidently in crisis situations.
* Experience in specialist assessments, psychological interventions, team formulation, consultation, training, service evaluation and supervision of other staff.

Additional Information

Applicants who do not meet the criteria for the band 8b role will also be considered for the band 8A role and job description (available under additional documents on NHS Jobs). This will be further discussed as part of the interview process and with the preferred candidate as appropriate.

The role is that of a community based practitioner and applicants will be required to travel across the Trust, so car owner/driver or suitable alternative transport arrangements will be essential to enable you to undertake the job.

The post is subject to an enhanced DBS Check.
