Post: EDS Dental Nurse

Pay: £17.64 per hour with enhancements for weekends and bank holiday shifts.

Hours: Bank/Zero Hours contract.

Accountable to: Senior Dental Nurse

Base: Queen Victoria Centre, Thorton Road, Morecambe

Closing Date: 28th January 2026


Overview

An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen for a dynamic individual to develop their dental nursing career within our Emergency Dental Service. We are looking for a person who enjoys urgent dental care and the less routine side of dentistry, and who will take satisfaction from working as part of a team in a busy and sometimes unpredictable environment. A caring and compassionate personality is extremely important. The Service aims to provide patients with treatment to relieve pain, manage swellings, and handle injuries/traumas.

Must be available at least 1 shift per week; evening availability is essential, with occasional weekend work.


Day-to-Day Duties

* To perform high quality dental nursing in a safe and effective manner alongside the dentist, within the scope of practice of a dental nurse.
* Work in a busy and sometimes unpredictable environment with confidence.
* Demonstrate good organisational and time management skills.
* Think on your feet while remaining polite and professional; take the lead when required. Adaptability is essential.
* Collaborate with a variety of staff; rosters may vary.
* Calm and reassure nervous/anxious patients; many service users may be visiting after a long time or as a last resort.
* Maintain teamwork and be a trustworthy team member.
* Maintain high standards of infection control and stay up to date with HTM01-05.
* Assist with decontamination of instruments as required and contribute to productive working relationships within the dental team.
* Contribute ideas to improve quality and patient outcomes.
* Assist with any reasonable duties requested.

Person Specification

Qualifications

* Essential: NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Dental Nursing.
* Desirable: Dental Radiography.

Experience

* Essential: GDC registered Dental Nurse.
* Desirable: Experience in a healthcare office or administrative role, preferably in Dentistry. Experience with Dentally Software.

Desirable: IT skills; safeguarding experience and ability to ask probing questions appropriately.
