Job Description
The Failsafe Officer is responsible for quality assurance processes overseeing patient management from front-end registration to database validation and cleansing. This role is crucial in safeguarding Diabetic Eye Screening Programme patients by escalating concerns or omissions to local DESP managers according to policies and procedures. Responsibilities include ongoing data audits, list validations, and liaising with stakeholders to ensure compliance.
* Creation, editing, and maintenance of clinical locations and appointment schedules to ensure all eligible patients are offered screening as per NDESP guidelines.
* Provide telephone support for patients regarding appointments, including booking, rearrangement, and cancellations.
* Validation and cleansing of the collated patient list.
* Oversee the patient cohort to ensure all are accounted for, including conducting regular audits and liaising with GPs, practice nurses, diabetologists, obstetricians, and paediatricians.
* Coordinate with key stakeholders to ensure patients are in the correct pathway, supported by systematic auditing and tracking.
* Work with Hospital Eye Services to ensure referred patients receive initial appointments within NDESP criteria and track their status until they return to DESP care.
Qualifications
* Excellent IT skills and understanding of Microsoft Office; strong organizational and administrative skills.
* Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, solve problems, and perform effectively under pressure.
* Minimum of 2 GCSEs (Grades A-C) in English and Maths or equivalent.
* Successful applicants will undergo a standard DBS disclosure process every 3 years.
