TheSpeciality and Integrated Medicine CSU are seeking to recruit a full time(37.5 hours) permanent, highly motivated and enthusiastic person within the Endocriniology and Bone Health Department. The successful candidate will work alongside other members of the admin team to support the Bone Health Service and wider clinical team within a supportive and encouraging environment. This post will be to provide a high standard of secretarial and admin duties to our patients and clinical team, working closely within a multi disciplinaryteam in a structured environment. You will work alongside the bone healthteam to prepare, record and action any outcomes from the bone MDT meetings.

We’re looking for someone with great communication skills, strong IT knowledge, and solid clerical experience. You’ll need to be able to manage your own workload, but also work well as part of a team.

Working hours are 08:0016:00, and there’s room for flexible working while keeping within our flexible working approach.

Main duties of the job

* Keep patient records up to date andaccurate on our admin systems.
* Type up clinical letters and otherpatient correspondence for consultants and the clinical team using EPRO.
* Respond to emails from cliniciansor team members, sorting things out where you can or passing them on to theright person.
* Take patient calls in a helpful andprofessional way, staying discreet and making sure any follow-ups are done.
* Work closely with clinicians andteam members to help the department run smoothly.
* Support the bone health service byorganising and attending MDT meetings and actioning any follow up outcomes.
* Contribute to the timely upkeep ofthe FLS (fracture liaison service) national database along side other teammembers.
* Update, monitor and outcome thebone health virtual lists.
* Organise your workload to keep ontop of departmental priorities.
* Take on other duties as needed,guided by the Senior Medical Secretary, as the service needs change.

TheEndocrinology admin team is made up of 1 Senior Medical Secretary, 3 MedicalSecretaries, 2 Clerk/Typists, and 1 MDT Administrator. The team is hardworking, knowledgeable, and a genuinely fun and supportive group to workwith.

Qualifications

* Audio typing/Word Processing Skills RSA II or equivalent experience
* ECDL


Experience

* One year secretarial experience
* Using Microsoft office packages
* Including word, excel and PowerPoint
* Prioritising and managing workload to meet deadlines
* Use of patient information systems, such as PAS
* Liaising with a variety of sources to provide information when required
* Use of PPM and other department-relevant systems


Skills & behaviours

* Interpersonal and communication skills.
* A broad understanding of medical terminology and its use within clinical correspondence
* Organisational skills and time management.
* Understanding of customer care principles.
* Ability to work as part of a team.
* Knowledge and application of the Data Protection Act in relation to patient confidentiality and the appropriate care of patient information.
* Ability to deal with enquiries in an appropriate and supportive manner.
* Ability to deal with sensitive and emotive information.
* Use of tact, diplomacy and sensitivity with wide range of people and in various situations
* Understanding of relevant Trust standards and other NHS waiting time standards e.g. 5-day turnaround of clinical correspondence, 18 week wait for patients.
