DWP is looking to fill 6 roles across Finance Group. We have a complex and engaging stakeholder network in our organisation. Our Finance Business Partners develop a strategic understanding of our financial position, using their interpersonal skills to develop great working relationships with budget holders from across the organisation as well as key contracted provision suppliers. You will join our organisation delivering partnering to one of many contracts that we support. We support with the mitigation of risk, providing advice, guidance and challenge, highlighting opportunities which consider the political and economic landscape. We prepare reports for presentation to HM Treasury and develop business cases for new initiatives. Youll use management information packs to showcase the financial position and future year plans. We produce analysis to support strategic decision making for services and entities with a total expenditure of over 9bn annually. Youll be responsible for financial modelling and supporting complex business cases as well as providing financial assurance to commercial and procurement exercises, analysing both affordability, accuracy and value for money. You may also be responsible for line managing a team of Finance Business Partners, leading and advising on technical accounting treatment and alignment with Departmental policy. Our role is to ensure that the Departments funding and performance position is managed and communicated effectively to support senior decision making. Locations The roles available could be based in one of the offices below: Birmingham 3 Arena Central, Bridge Street, Birmingham B1 2AX Blackpool Peel Park, Brunel Way, Blackpool FY4 5ES London Caxton House, 6-12 Tothill Street, London, SW1V 9NA. Leeds Quarry House, Quarry Hill, Leeds, LS2 7UA. Manchester 2 St Peters Square, Manchester, M2 3AA. Newcastle Benton Park View, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, NE98 1BA. Hybrid Working These roles may be suitable for hybrid working, which iswhere an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of theweek from home. A track record of supporting good decision making through high quality analysis, adding insight to financial data. The ability to challenge, influence and build relationships with senior stakeholders, demonstrating excellent communication skills. Application of professional accountancy standards, financial policies and controls within a complex public or private sector environment. Ability to help the business deliver its objectives, providing coaching and guidance on financial matters. Evidence of dealing with competing priorities whilst maintaining day to day activities and working to tight deadlines. A track record of working in the finance sector. This role is open to CCAB / CIMA qualified accountants or part-qualified accountants who are still studying. Please note the higher rate of pay is only available upon full qualification. Qualifications You must hold a full chartered level, or be studying for a professional qualification awarded by a UK-recognised accountancy body: CIMA, ICAEW, ACCA, CIPFA, ICAS or Chartered Accountants Ireland. Memberships Eligibility criteria for qualified accountants: You must hold a full chartered level professional qualification awarded by a UK-recognised accountancy body: CIMA, ICAEW, ACCA, CIPFA, ICAS or Chartered Accountants Ireland. Your membership of one of these institutes must be up to date and live on the day you submit your application. If you are invited to interview, you will be asked to provide evidence of both your qualification status and your membership being current on the date you applied. Please note that membership of AAT or other technician level qualifications does not satisfy the qualification criteria for this role. If you are unsure whether you meet the qualification criteria, you should confirm with our recruitment team before proceeding with your application. If you hold a chartered level accountancy qualification with an overseas body, you will not be eligible to apply for this role. However, most of the UK-recognised accountancy bodies operate reciprocal agreements and pathways programmes which allow people with overseas qualifications to apply for membership. We would recommend pursuing this if you are interested in a career in UK government finance. You would then be eligible to apply for our future vacancies, once your membership became active. Eligibility criteria for part-qualified accountants: You must be studying for a qualification with a UK-recognised accountancy body: CIMA, ICAEW, ACCA, CIPFA, ICAS or Chartered Accountants Ireland. You must have passed (or been awarded an exemption from) a minimum of 8 exams so far, and your last exam sitting must have been within 12 months from the date you submit your application. Your student membership of your institute must be up to date and live on the day you submit your application.
