Job Title: Assistant Accountant – Central Finance

Purpose of the Role
The role is part of the team which is responsible for the accounting and financial control of Central/Head Office functions across Pilgrim's Europe. This will cover reporting, planning, and Business Partnering to support strong decision making and effective cost control.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in the preparation of month end files
* Analyse data, investigating & reporting on anomalies
* Prepare monthly journals
* Support in budget & forecast process
* Complete detailed balance sheet reconciliations
* Prepare weekly Engineering information
* Prepare I/C recharges
* Co-ordinate & Submit Quarterly Alcohol Duty submission
* Trend & report on GRNI position
* Investigate central GRNI liaising with stakeholders to close out
* Support when required system KPI preparation for business
* Support ad hoc business projects
* Ensure compliance with all SOX and standard internal controls as required
* Support external and internal audit processes
* Follow lean thinking principles and make suggestions for improvement so that better ways of doing jobs are identified and implemented
* Apply problem solving techniques to resolve problems and recommend improvements to maintain costs at a planned level
Skills & Experience Required
* National Level 2 in numeracy and literacy
* A levels of equivalent (preferable mathematics, business studies)
