About The Role

Deadline for application: 20/04/26. Interview dates: W/C 27/04/26.

The role may close earlier if a suitable candidate is appointed before the deadline.

Teach children aged 11‑17 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, including Autism, ADHD and communication difficulties.

Responsibilities include:

* Plan and deliver a curriculum spanning Entry Level, Functional Skills, Key Stage 3 and GCSE in English.
* Build professional, nurturing and positive relationships with students.
* Manage complex and challenging behaviours, using crisis‑management techniques.
* Design creative, academically engaging lessons that meet the needs of individual pupils.
* Collaborate with specialists, parents/carers, local authority teams and colleagues to secure outcomes.
* Provide input in developing academic curriculum and extra‑curricular opportunities.

Compass Community School Tull Park is an independent specialist school providing high‑quality, therapeutic and child‑centred education for pupils aged 11 to 17 years in Woking.

We are a trauma and attachment informed organisation providing extensive therapeutic training and support to staff.


The Right Person

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Postgraduate Education Certificate (PGCE).
* Proven record of good or outstanding teaching practice.
* Excellent, efficient and emotionally intelligent communication skills.
* Ability to teach a subject specialism to GCSE or equivalent vocational level.
* Strong desire to work inclusively within an emotionally literate environment, supporting children who have experienced adverse childhood experiences (ACEs).
* Experience crisis‑management, managing challenging behaviours and working with children with SEMH difficulties.
* Experience implementing a creative and academically engaging curriculum while maintaining high standards.
* Experience working effectively with hard‑to‑reach or disengaged families.

Safeguarding
