An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new analytical role in the Cardiovascular Epidemiology Unit (CEU), Department of Public Health and Primary Care.
Responsibilities
* Contribute to the development and application of a simulation model exploring optimal approaches for iron supplementation in blood donors in England.
* Collaborate closely with NHS Blood & Transplant and a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, behavioural psychologists, and lay representatives.
* Utilize data resources from COMPARE, INTERVAL, and STRIDES studies to inform the model.
* Inform a real‑world study of iron supplementation for blood donors to support NHSBT policy‑making.
* Engage in additional research in related areas, such as statistical/decision‑analytic modelling for blood donor safety and health.
* Publish findings and present at scientific meetings.
Qualifications and Experience
* A PhD (or equivalent) in Health Data Science, Statistics, Epidemiology, Health Economics, or a related quantitative field (including applicants who have submitted but not yet received their PhD).
* Strong understanding of inferential and quantitative concepts, and a broad range of quantitative techniques.
* Strong computational skills and preferably prior experience in simulation modelling.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong organisational abilities.
* Ability to communicate and present results to a broad scientific audience (quantitative scientists, epidemiologists, clinicians, etc.).
Employment Details
Appointment at Research Associate level, with temporary Research Assistant status for those who have not yet received their PhD (PhD required within 6 months of commencement). The position is full‑time but accepts roles of no less than 60% FTE. Funding is available until 31 March 2028.
Location: Victor Phillip Dahdaleh Heart & Lung Research Institute, Biomedical Campus, Papworth Road, Trumpington, Cambridge CB2 0BD (approximately 2 miles south of city centre). Hybrid working is an option.
