We are looking for an experienced, motivated, and passionate Financial Controller who will be the number one in Finance reporting directly to our European Group HQ Team and will also be a key member of the UK management team. The role is a blend of accounting, operational and commercial responsibilities supporting a UK SME.
The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial operations, ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting, managing risks, and leading a small finance team. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent analytical skills, who can drive financial performance and provide insights for decision-making.
Hours of work: part time 30 hours per week.
Salary: £65,000 - £75,000 FTE (pro rata) DOE
Hybrid working with the office available in York. You are required to work from the office 3 days per week.
Key Skills and Experience:
* Experience managing standard monthly and yearly processes and accounting controls, ensuring accuracy, quality, and timeliness.
* Experience producing accurate management accounts and KPI’s on a monthly basis.
* Experience leading a finance team with direct people management responsibilities.
* Experience collaborating across departments to ensure that finance goals and objectives align with the company strategy.
* Experience leading on external audits, preparing the year end pack, and collaborating with auditors to ensure group year-end reporting deadlines are met.
* Experience managing key relationships with internal stakeholders, tax advisors, banks, insurance brokers and pension providers.
* Experience providing financial input, developing forecasts and variance analysis to support business decisions.
The ideal candidate will have:
* ACA/ ACCA/ CIMA chartered qualification
* Proven experience post qualification in a financial management role, preferably in a similar industry
* Willingness to be hands on, an eye for detail and a driver of continuous improvement
* Working knowledge of Sage 200 is an advantage but not essential
* Experience within a SAAS business is an advantage but not essential
* Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision making skills
* Strong stakeholder management skills
