Are you looking for a role that's packed with variety, where you could be working on anything from children's storytimes, well being chats with customers, promotional displays, or even hosting performances? Could our Library Assistant opportunities be the next step in your career? You might be surprised to learn that you don't need experience working in a library to apply.

We're recruiting two part-time (18.5hrs) Library Assistant to join our team based at Goole Library. With 23 library sites, including joint library and customer service centres and a mobile library fleet, the library service has a strong physical presence across the authority. We're passionate about empowering people and these posts are an exciting opportunity for the right candidates to be involved in delivering a whole host of events and services for all ages, making a real difference to local communities.

Reporting to the Library Supervisor, the successful candidates will be responsible for basic library duties, as well as supporting library users on their health and wellbeing journey using the Boditrax machine and Healthy Chats. They will support children with reading from early years at Bounce and Rhyme sessions, to our Chatterbooks junior reading group.

Gone are the days of libraries being quiet, as proven by the popular Cuppa and a Chorus sessions. Assistants also support library users with the People's Network computers and at Tech Time session. With lots of variety the role is fast paced and not just about books and literacy.

Duties can include;

1. promoting library events and activities
2. supporting customers on the Boditrax machine
3. supporting customers on the People's Network computers
4. maintaining the book stock
5. keeping abreast of new developments & resources
6. finding new and innovative ways to engage with the community.

Previous experience within a library is not necessary as full training will be provided. This is an ideal opportunity for anyone who;

7. has team working skills but able to work on own initiative and unsupervised
8. is friendly and approachable
9. has a good knowledge of the local area and it's history
10. loves a varied and changeable working day
11. is enthusiastic and willing to learn.

The role can be physically demanding and involves moving around the workplace, assisting customers, moving library stock to and from shelves, restocking display areas, and loading/unloading of small crates of library materials/book stock and caddy liner boxes.
