Contract: Full-time, long-term (with potential to become permanent)

Hours: MondayFriday, term time only, 8.30am until 3.30pm
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience and qualifications
About the Role
We are seeking a committed and resilient SEND Teaching Assistant to support small groups of secondary-aged pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEND) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a rewarding role for someone who thrives on making a meaningful difference to young people who benefit from structure, patience, and consistent support.
You will work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external professionals to help pupils access learning, regulate emotions, and develop confidence both academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide targeted support to small groups of pupils with SEND and SEMH needs
* Assist with personalised learning plans and differentiated activities
* Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage engagement
* Support behaviour regulation using de-escalation strategies and trauma-informed approaches
* Work collaboratively with teachers and SENCOs to track progress and adapt support
* Promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
* Contribute to EHCP reviews, behaviour plans, and safeguarding processes where required
About You
Wed love to hear from you if you have:
* Experience supporting SEND or SEMH pupils (school, alternative provision, youth work, or care settings)
* A calm, empathetic, and resilient approach
* Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
* The ability to adapt quickly and think on your feet
* A genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning
Relevant training such as Team Teach, MAPA, or trauma-informed practice is desirable but not essential. xsngvjr
Requirements
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
* Right to work in the UK
* Professional references covering the last 2 years
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
