The work of the County Council is overseen by 61 councillors elected to represent the views of the people of Cambridgeshire. Each councillor, also referred to as a Member, represents an electoral division within Cambridgeshire. The Leader is responsible for delivering political leadership within the Council, and is elected by the Members themselves. This role provides high-quality dedicated administrative support to the Leader of the Council, whilst working as part of the wider member services team. The role supports the Leader to effectively discharge their responsibilities and functions and to be as efficient as possible. Working within a confidential and politically sensitive environment, the role will include functions such as diary management, inbox support and correspondence processes. This is a unique opportunity to support the Leader and to gain an insight into the operations across the Council, whilst working in an organisation committed to making a difference to the residents of Cambridgeshire, and supporting the vision of delivering “a healthy, fair and sustainable Cambridgeshire”. This opportunity is offered on a permanent basis for 37 hours per week and is based in our Headquarters of New Shire Hall. We offer flexible working options and the ability to work on a hybrid basis. Working directly for the Leader you will manage their calendar, making sure the Leader is appropriately prepared for their commitments and appointments. You will offer inbox support and manage correspondence processes with tact, discretion and confidentiality. You will work as part of a wider team who support elected members, supporting others in the team where required. Responsibilities
* Support the Leader by managing their calendar and ensuring they are appropriately prepared for all commitments and appointments.
* Provide inbox support and manage correspondence processes with tact, discretion and confidentiality.
* Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, handling enquiries and correspondence with professionalism.
* Support the wider member services team and assist other community members where required.
* Use IT systems (including Microsoft packages) efficiently and accurately.
Qualifications & Requirements
• Proven experience as a PA or in a similar role.
• Highly organised, proactive and able to prioritise tasks and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
• Strong communication skills, confident to act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders.
• Ability to work with discretion, confidentiality and professionalism in a politically sensitive environment.
• Competence in IT, including Microsoft Office Suite, and willingness to learn other systems.
