Job Description:
Applications are invited for an AHRC CDA doctoral studentship offered by the Open-Oxford-Cambridge AHRC Doctoral Training Partnership, starting in October 2025.
The studentship will be based in the Department of Architecture. The successful applicant will work on a collaborative project co-led by Professor Emily So (University of Cambridge) and Dr Juliet Mian, co-supervisor and Fellow, Infrastructure Resilience & Global Resilience Skills Leader at Arup. Additional supervision may be provided by Professor Alan Blackwell from the Department of Computer Science.
This Collaborative Doctoral Award offers an opportunity to shape the UK's climate adaptation programme. Partnering with Arup and the Environment Agency in their FENS2100+ project, you will gain insights from practitioners and local communities at risk, and pilot research-led designs during your PhD. The project aims to explore and propose methods of communication at a system and landscape level for floods and other risks in the UK.
Further details about the project and its aims can be found on the Open-Oxford-Cambridge AHRC DTP website.
Funding:
The DTP studentships provide an annual maintenance grant to cover living costs (£19,237 stipend + £600 CDA allowance per annum at current rates) and university tuition fees at the home fee level. The fee gap for international candidates will be covered by the university through internal co-funding.
Application Process:
Applications must be submitted through the University Postgraduate Application Portal. For informal inquiries about the project, contact the University supervisor at supervisor@cambridge.ac.uk.
Deadline:
Tuesday, 07 January 2025.
The University values diversity and is committed to equality of opportunity.
