Business Unit Director - Specialty/Primary Care
Business Unit Director required by a global pharmaceutical organisation.
A global pharmaceutical firm currently requires a Business Unit Director to lead its Specialty/Primary Care business unit. This is a senior leadership role offering the opportunity to define strategy, lead cross-functional teams, and drive strong commercial outcomes across a diverse product portfolio.
Upon joining, the Business Unit Director will:
* Set the strategic direction for the Specialty/Primary Care portfolio, ensuring alignment with wider organisational objectives
* Lead the execution of commercial plans to deliver sustainable growth and profitability
* Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including medical, market access, regulatory, and sales to deliver integrated strategies
* Track and evaluate business performance, using insights to refine plans and maximise impact
* Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team, encouraging a culture of ownership, innovation, and collaboration
* Contribute to the broader leadership agenda, supporting long-term planning and business transformation initiatives
* Apply deep understanding of market dynamics, customer behaviour, and healthcare systems to identify opportunities for growth
* Promote a culture of agility, open communication, and continuous improvement across the business unit
In terms of skills we are looking for:
* Extensive experience within the pharmaceutical industry, including senior roles in commercial, marketing, or business leadership
* Proven ability to deliver strong financial and operational performance across complex product portfolios
* Commercially astute, with the ability to interpret data, anticipate market shifts, and shape effective strategies
* Experience working in cross-functional and matrix environments, with the ability to align teams and stakeholders
* Strong leadership capability, with a focus on coaching, development, and building high-performing teams
* Effective communicator with the ability to influence at all levels of an organisation
* Strong understanding of customer and patient pathways within Specialty and/or Primary Care settings
* Adaptable and resilient, with the ability to navigate change and drive continuous improvement
* Degree in business, life sciences, or a related field; advanced qualifications are beneficial
