Are you friendly? Patient? Love to chat?Do you want to make a difference to the life of a person with a learning disability? Could you spare just a couple of hours every two months? If the answer to the above questions is yes, please read on! We are looking for a volunteer to visit a wonderful older lady as a part of our Mencap Visiting Service. She is a very sociable person who loves company, and always makes visitors feel very welcome. No prior experience of learning disability is needed. Although visits will initially be in the home, she will jump at any opportunity to get out of the house. You might enjoy doing the following together:
1. Going out for a cup of tea/coffee
2. Grabbing a spot of lunch
3. Have a mooch about the shops
4. She loves theatre, but hasn't been able to see any in a while. Perhaps you could take in a show?
This is an incredible volunteering opportunity with an amazing person that anyone would be lucky to know. If the above sounds like something you would enjoy and you are:

Then get in touch! The Mencap Visiting Service (MVS) was launched in as a befriending service to adults with a learning disability after their parents pass away. In volunteering in this service, you would not only be providing a valuable visit to this amazing person, but also honouring her parents' wishes. You can apply by either:
