Housing Department Background:
Our Housing team is renowned for its legal expertise and advocacy in social housing law across the UK. We handle a broad spectrum of housing issues, representing clients at all court levels, including judicial reviews at the High Court.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Report to and collaborate with the Board to meet performance targets.
2. Oversee all aspects of Housing work, providing technical guidance to team members.
3. Possess significant experience in representing clients in Housing Court Duty Schemes over the past 2 years.
4. Manage and supervise Solicitors, Trainee Solicitors, and Caseworkers.
5. Assist with training and development within the department.
6. Handle various housing cases, including homelessness, disrepair, eviction, possession, disputes, and advocacy.
7. Manage emergency cases and strategic litigation.
8. Prepare and manage legal funding applications.
9. Draft legal documents and process evidence.
10. Maintain a proactive, client-focused approach, and contribute to business development and marketing efforts.
Key Skills and Requirements:
* 3+ years PQE in Housing and Litigation, including court representation.
* Experience as Duty Advisor under Housing Possession Court Duty Scheme in the last 2 years.
* Willingness to work towards the 2013 SQM Supervisor standard in Housing.
* Experience in welfare rights and community care issues.
* Valid Practicing Certificate.
* Strong management and supervisory skills.
* Excellent client care, networking, and marketing skills.
* Knowledge of public and private housing law.
* Advocacy experience is advantageous.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and document management.
* Ability to manage social media for marketing.
