Overview

This is a great opportunity for a keen, reliable, enthusiastic GP Receptionist who wants to work within our amazing team. We are based at Higher Bebington Health Centre, a purpose-built building which is less than 15 years old with a positive and dynamic team. We offer a competitive rate of pay; the NHS pension scheme is available and a health care plan.


Main duties of the job

This is a Receptionist role greeting patients and visitors to our Surgery. You will be the first point of contact for our patients, ensuring they receive a welcoming, efficient and professional service always.

The successful applicant will need to be highly motivated, adaptable and flexible and project a professional, positive and friendly image to our patients both in person and on the telephone. This is a busy Practice and the ability to stay calm under pressure is particularly important. There are also elements of administration included in the Receptionist role. It is especially important to us that the successful applicant is a team-player providing support to colleagues when needed.

Previous experience is preferred but not essential as full training will be given. All members of our team follow our Surgery policies and protocols to give great patient experience to a very high standard. Applicants must be well presented, computer literate, have excellent communication, verbal and written skills, accuracy to detail and confidentiality is also essential.

Job Description

JOB TITLE: Receptionist - Care Navigator

REPORTS TO: Practice Manager

HOURS: 18-20 hours per week across Monday, Tuesday, and Friday. Variable hours on a rota basis.

Job summary:

The successful applicant will need to be highly motivated, adaptable and flexible and project a professional, positive and friendly image to our patients both in person and on the telephone. This is a busy Practice and the ability to stay calm under pressure is particularly important.

It is especially important to us that the successful applicant is a team-player providing support to colleagues when needed.

Job responsibilities:

Administration

* Follow written Practice policies and Protocols detailing our administrative processes.

Reception

* Greet patients and visitors, managing queries in person, by telephone and email.
* Direct patients to the appropriate service or healthcare professional using Care Navigation knowledge.
* Book, amend and cancel appointments using the practice clinical system.
* Process patients repeat prescription requests and liaise with clinicians and local pharmacies.
* Manage our online consultation system.
* Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence, scanning and filing documents into patient records.
* Assist with administrative tasks as required.
* Maintain patient confidentiality in line with GDPR and NHS policies.
* Complete administrative tasks sent through our various systems.
* Work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, and administrative colleagues to ensure the smooth running of the practice.
* Provide cover for colleagues during absences or busy periods as required.

IT

* Use our clinical and document management systems within the guidelines (full training will be given).
* Use other IT systems as needed.

Other Tasks

* Clear rooms after surgeries and maintain stock levels.
* Ensure building security have thorough knowledge of doors/windows/alarm.
* Complete any other tasks allocated by managers.


Person Specification


Experience

* Experience of work using telephones
* Experience of dealing with public/patients
* Experience of Microsoft Office software
* Excellent keyboard and computer skills
* Flexibility of working hours/able to work at the desired times is essential

* Ability to use own judgement, resourcefulness and common sense
* Ability to work without direct supervision and determine own workload priorities

Qualifications

* Qualifications/Certificates in English and Maths
* Recognised training, qualifications in Administration or similar
