We are recruiting on behalf of a leading engineering client based in Rugby, who specialises in the design, manufacture, and repair of high-complexity rotating electrical machines. Due to increased project demand particularly within the UK renewable energy sector they are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join their dynamic engineering team.
This is a great opportunity to work on innovative projects from concept through to completion, with a strong initial focus on generator design for the renewable energy market.
About the Role:
You will be responsible for the electrical design, analysis, and lifecycle support of medium to large high-voltage rotating machines. The role covers new design, retrofits, failure investigation, and hands-on project leadership across the full engineering lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
* Electrical design of new machinery, including stator, rotor, and complete assembly.
* Root cause analysis of machinery failures and production of repair instructions.
* Lead engineering activities across project phases, including client liaison.
* Conduct diagnostic and condition assessment on-site, compiling life assessment reports.
* Support tendering and project management teams with technical oversight.
* Develop test methodologies for dynamic testing of large machines and analyse results.
* Ensure quality control and technical compliance throughout projects.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or related field (HND/HNC with relevant experience also considered).
* Minimum 5 years’ professional engineering experience, ideally within rotating machines.
* Knowledge of high-voltage rotating electrical machines and associated systems (control, switchgear, transformers).
* Experience with electromagnetic design tools (MotorCAD, COMSOL or equivalent).
* Familiarity with manufacturing processes and CAD tools.
* Strong documentation skills and ability to work both independently and in teams.
Personal Attributes:
* Willingness to travel within the UK and occasionally overseas.
* Proficient in MS Office, CAD, and engineering design software.
* Excellent problem-solving, judgement, and analytical skills.

* Strong communication skills and professional document creation ability.
