Applications are invited from graduates with an Applied Biomedical Science (Hons) degree, or a Biomedical Sciences (Hons) degree accredited by the IBMS as suitable for training purposes, or equivalent.
Newly graduated candidates, if successful, will be placed on Band 5 and required to complete their Specialist Portfolio prior to progression to Specialist Biomedical Scientist Band 6.
Our modern, progressive, and well-equipped laboratory is the main provider of services to NHS Grampian. The department serves a population of approximately 600,000 people and conducts over 8 million tests annually.
Successful candidates will be expected to participate in the out-of-hours rota once trained and deemed competent.
The department is approved by IBMS/HCPC as a training laboratory and is UKAS accredited. Participation in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities is encouraged, and funding for postgraduate studies is available.
