Overview
As a Preventative Maintenance Engineer, you will work in conjunction with the controller to maximise the operational availability of equipment for the customer through timely and efficient routine and preventative maintenance servicing and machine inspections. You will identify possible issues that may impact availability and carry out minor repairs as requested. During this role, you will be an ambassador for safety, servicing products in a manner that promotes safety for yourself and the customer.

Major Job Functions
* Preventative Maintenance Servicing: Carry out routine servicing of equipment according to manufacturer guidelines, including oil sampling (75%)
* Machine Inspection: Visual and mechanical analysis of machine condition to identify issues with hydraulic, electrical, powertrain, and mechanical systems (20%)
* Minor Repairs: Complete minor repairs, install telematic systems, and conduct undercarriage inspections (5%)

This is a field-based role. All drivers must hold a full driving licence for at least 2 years (subject to DVLA check). Working hours are 43 hours per week with flexible start and finish times. The working pattern is Monday to Friday, with one Saturday in three at overtime rates.
Specific Skills
The role requires basic knowledge of engines, hydraulics, powertrain, and vehicle electrics/electronics related to servicing and repairing heavy mobile plant or similar equipment.
Accountability
* Attend customer locations as advised by the controller to perform preventive maintenance.
* Liaise with the service controller and customer throughout the process.
* Ensure all work is completed to high standards and equipment is safe before return.
* Complete all paperwork accurately and timely, including customer signatures.
* Maintain company vehicle and equipment properly.
Education and Experience
Either around 3 years of direct experience or related engineering experience (e.g., car mechanic, HGV fitter, agricultural engineer, military vehicle mechanic), or a formal apprenticeship with at least C&G Level 1. Further training in health & safety is desirable but not essential.
