Are you an ambitious pharmacy technician looking for a new and exciting challenge? This is a rare opportunity for an experienced pharmacy technician to utilise their management and leadership skills, as they lead and develop dispensary services at The James Cook University Hospital.
The dispensary is a busy, fast paced environment that provides essential dispensing services to the wards, departments, and patients of South Tees Hospitals NHS Trust. You will be responsible for the day to day efficient running of the dispensary, the completion of rotas and the supervision and training of staff.
We are looking to appoint a confident and competent technician who can demonstrate effective leadership skills, and who is looking to progress their career to manage the dynamic and friendly dispensary team. The successful candidate will be provided with all the relevant training and support, as well as provided with ample opportunities to allow personal growth, and career progression.

Main duties of the job
Supervise the dispensary staff and ensure the safe and timely supply of medicines is always maintained to the wards and departments of South Tees NHS Foundation Trust.
Ensure that operational dispensary Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are always maintained and followed and will contribute to the maintenance of the programme.
Undertake accurate labelling and dispensing in accordance with SOPs by interpreting prescription charts and ePMA to facilitate the safe supply of medicines.
Undertake allocated final accuracy checking slots within the dispensary as an ACT and to show continuous competency in checking accurately and safely.
Use the pharmacy computer system to maintain accurate patient records and information regarding supplies the pharmacy department have made.
Ensure dispensary staff complete allocated work to expected standards, which includes stock checks, expiry date checking and appropriate storage of medicines. To ensure that checked items are ready to be delivered as dictated by the transport schedule.
To have a working knowledge and be a superuser of the electronic systems within the dispensary which include the pharmacy/Trust computer system; the pharmacy dispensing robot; Omnicell CD cabinet, prescription tracker, and the ePMA system.
Provide professional advice and information to patients, relatives, carers, medical and nursing staff regarding prescribed medicines and further supplies.
Provide support in implementing developments within dispensing services.

Essential criteria
1. NVQL3 and BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent.
2. Pharmacy Technician registered with the GPhC.
3. Nationally recognised Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician qualification
Experience

4. Significant post qualification pharmacy experience
5. Current management skills and associated HR duties.
6. Experience in the supervision of technical and support staff.
7. Experience in recruitment and selection.
