Main Purpose of the Job:
To assist the manager in achieving the aims and objectives of the statement of purpose. To deputise in the absence of the registered manager. To support and manage staff to meet the needs of children and young people. To undertake direct work with children and young people as appropriate. To be responsible for managing child protection concerns and complaints. To work in partnership with other professionals to achieve the best outcomes for young people. To offer supervisions and support to senior staff in line with care quality standards and Children’s Homes Regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Ensure that each young person has an allocated key worker.
* Ensure staff are aware of each child’s placement plan and their responsibilities for its implementation.
* Attend childcare reviews and planning meetings to provide information and achieve the best outcomes for young people.
* Undertake direct work with young people and act as an appropriate role model.
* Assist in developing systems for consulting young people about the quality of care they receive.
* Support the implementation of all aspects of the Statement of Purpose in collaboration with the Registered Manager.
* Contribute to devising, implementing, and evaluating changes to improve services, systems, and standards.
* Deputise in the absence of the Registered Manager.
* Support staffing needs on and off the rota to meet the needs of young people.
* Ensure resources are allocated appropriately and financial records are maintained accurately.
Qualifications/Experience/Requirements:
* NVQ 3 in caring for Children and Young People (or equivalent).
* Understanding of Ofsted framework (SCCIF).
* At least 12 months experience working in a residential setting with young people with challenging behaviour, including supervisory experience.
* Knowledge of the Children Act and relevant legislation.
* Team building and supervision skills.
* Ability to manage teams effectively.
* Excellent organisational skills.
* Motivational skills for staff.
* A full UK driving licence is required due to the location and nature of the role.
