Police Chief
Enfield, with a population of approximately 2,536, is located in historic Southern Halifax County. The Police Chief will oversee staffing, equipment, and training to prevent and suppress crime. Responsibilities include planning, organizing, and directing all police operations. The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership, interpersonal, communication, and management skills, along with knowledge of laws, ordinances, and legal processes. Strong skills in employee and community relations, budgeting, and fiscal control are essential. The ability to plan, direct, and supervise personnel, and to establish effective working relationships is required.
Preferred qualifications include a bachelor's degree in police science, criminal justice, public administration, or a related field, along with several years of experience in a police managerial role. Certification by the NC Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards is mandatory. Candidates must be able to operate a computer terminal and work with data and figures.
