Stroke Consultant – Welcome Bonus £20,000
Overview
We would invite applicants who are looking to join an innovative and dynamic small team of stroke physicians to look after the second busiest stroke service in the Anglian region.
Responsibilities
* This is a full‑time substantive post and will complete the team at the Ipswich Hospital site as part of the ESNEFT strategy for Stroke. It is specific to the Ipswich site.
* 7‑day inpatient stroke rota (hyperacute and acute care) – 28 inpatient beds
* Daily TIA clinics and weekly outpatient clinics reviewing new referrals and stroke follow‑ups
* Leading and developing the educational requirement of the stroke service
* Option to participate in additional activity including participating in the acute medicine on call rota, or as an alternative the regional telemedicine rota.
* Rolling weekly one in four rota with four components: Care of HASU patients and acute stroke calls; Care of ASU patients; TIA clinics Monday to Friday; Outpatients clinics.
* Weekend work including HASU ward round, TIA clinic and ward reviews.
* Days off in lieu will follow a weekend or bank holiday on duty.
* Provide weekend and bank holiday Stroke Unit ward rounds and assessment of high‑risk TIA referrals (one in six rota with prospective cover).
Contract
This is a 10‑PA contract based on the recommendations from the BMA. It is split into 8.5 PA direct clinical care and 1.5 PA supporting professional activities. The direct clinical care includes 8.5 PA per week (clinical activity, clinically related activity and predictable emergency work). The supporting activities include 1.5 PA per week (CPD, audit, teaching, appraisal).
