A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Coding Service Manager to lead our highly experienced and friendly Clinical Coding team at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The post holder will be a highly experienced manager within a clinical coding environment with proven experience in service improvement, service delivery and quality management. The post holder will have excellent communication skills with a strong ability to engage and develop strong and sustainable relationships within the team and wider with clinical and corporate colleagues, both within the Trust and across the wider healthcare system.

Main duties of the job
Clinically coded data is fundamental in helping the Trust deliver against its overall goal of becoming the ‘safest Trust in England, outstanding in all that we do’. The income of the Trust is reliant on accurate and timely coded data. This information is also used for resource management, clinical research, clinical audit, and healthcare contracting, and service provision both locally and nationally.
The successful candidate will:
* Act as the corporate professional lead for clinical coding.
* Responsible for developing medium term clinical coding strategy, taking account of service changes i.e. implementation of an Electronic Patient Record.
* Developing and leading the clinical coding function across the Trust.
* Developing and implementing best practice to ensure timely and the highest quality coded data across the Trust to support a whole host of agendas include Trust income and mortality.
* Act as a project lead specialist for any clinical coding projects or expert for any projects with a clinical coding element.
* Responsible for the delivery of key clinical coding key performance indicators and audit requirements.

Experience
* • Significant experience within a Clinical Coding environment
* • Significant experience working at a management level, including team management
* • Understanding and experience of managing data quality in Clinical Coding
* • Excellent working knowledge of Trust Patient Administration Systems and other key operational patient systems and patient flow.
* • Knowledge of the role and function of
* • In-depth and specialist knowledge of generating Trust income from Clinical Coding and Healthcare Resource Groups
* • Demonstrable experience in proposing and successfully introducing change management to improve the delivery of a service
* • Successful completion of the Prince Foundation Project Management Course
Qualifications
* • Advanced skills in using Windows based packages and internet
* • Advanced numeracy skills and basic statistical techniques
* • Train the Trainer Connecting for Health Accredited status
Interpersonal
* • Confident in communicating with people at all levels including senior managers and clinicians
* • Confident to fully participate and lead meetings and deliver training including presentations
Organisational
* • Complex problem solving skills
* • Excellent proven ability in planning and organisational ability on an individual and total service basis
* • Proven track record in working to challenging ongoing timescales and ability to work well under ongoing pressure
