Opportunity
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Flood Risk Consultant to join our thriving Water Environment team within our Birmingham office. This is an excellent chance to lead models on a range of projects locally and nationally, mentor and develop other consultants, and manage varied, challenging projects with clients and regulators.
Key responsibilities include:
* Develop and lead flood risk assessments and hydrological/hydraulic modelling projects across diverse portfolios.
* Engage in business development: prepare work‑winning strategies, fee proposals, and manage project finances.
* Attend design and site meetings, conduct site inspections, and provide detailed progress reports.
* Collaborate with clients, architects, contractors and statutory authorities to ensure project success.
* Conduct research and contribute to acquiring new clients and expanding services.
Required qualifications and experience:
* Bachelor’s degree in a water‑related discipline; higher degree preferred.
* Significant consultancy or industry experience as a senior modeller.
* Expertise in flood risk assessment under NPPF and TAN15, and in hydrological/hydraulic modelling using tools such as Flood Modeler Pro or TUFLOW.
* Strong understanding of Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales, and Lead Local Flood Authorities frameworks.
* Current knowledge of planning policies and ability to leverage them for client service and approvals.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, self‑motivated, able to work autonomously, and able to coordinate with line manager’s requirements.
