Job Summary
An exciting opportunity for a Band 7 registered clinician to take on the role of NMP at HMP Stoke Heath Category C Young Offenders & adult male prison. The successful candidate will work within the clinical substance use service to assume a key prescriber role, including the allocation of complex patients and responsibility for delivering medical aspects of the care plan, relevant support, psychotherapeutic interventions, and communication within the team and with relevant agencies.
Responsibilities
* Provide a clinical service to people who use substances and alcohol, including individual treatment and care packages underpinned by a sound evidence base.
* Assume a key prescriber role, allocating complex patients and delivering medical aspects of the care plan, support and psychotherapeutic interventions, and communicating patient information within the team and with relevant agencies.
* Carry out alcohol and drug detoxification with service users.
* Report to the Team Manager.
* Line‑manage nursing and recovery staff when directed by the Team Manager.
* Provide group practice supervision on a monthly basis to staff in the absence of the Team Manager.
* Mentor new NMPs and support student nurse placements.
* Provide regular supervision to nurses and recovery workers on a monthly basis as required by the service.
Qualifications
* Nursing or Pharmacist qualification and a registered practitioner with the NMC or GPC, or a relevant allied health professional qualification registered with the professional body.
Experience
* Experience of working as an independent NMP within a drug and alcohol service.
* Evidence of working effectively at a senior level in a multi‑disciplinary health and social care setting.
* Significant demonstrable experience of harm reduction approaches to working with people who use substances, including knowledge of naloxone, overdose prevention strategies and needle and syringe programmes.
