Responsibilities

We are offering an exciting opportunity and are looking to recruit an innovative and motivated Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) School Nurse, who can demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills to join our teams in the Kirklees.

As a qualified School Nurse you will be expected to work as part of a corporate team. You will have the ability to demonstrate evidence-based practice and provide a high quality of care provision within the services.

As part of your role as a School Nurse you will have a passion for working with school aged children and young people and be required to facilitate and deliver a range of assessments, brief interventions, proactive public health initiatives and work both independently and as part of a multi-agency team. You will work from a variety of settings including schools, partner agencies and homes, working flexibly and creatively to best engage and meet the diverse health needs of the school aged population. You will have a flexible approach, to undertake health needs assessments and determine health needs of a 5-19 caseload.

You will be offered a comprehensive induction/training programme and receive on-going clinical/child protection supervision, mentorship and other training opportunities for continuous professional development. Knowledge and skills in safeguarding are essential to both roles and you will be required to create reports, attend initial case conferences and make informed decisions about child protection risks.

A commitment to work in partnership with other Children’s Statutory and Voluntary Agencies is essential in order to improve the outcomes for children, and in addressing health inequalities of the very diverse populations we serve.

The successful candidate will be committed to supporting Locala’s values and be proactive at embracing new technologies. This includes video and telephone conferencing and the use of mobile devices enabling staff to work more flexibly to address the needs of the community.
