A specialist SEN school in Merton is looking to appoint a passionate and creative SEN Art Teacher to join their team on a full-time basis. The school caters for students with Autism (ASD), SEMH, ADHD, speech & language needs and associated behavioural difficulties across KS3 and KS4.
This role is ideal for an Art Teacher with SEN experience or a mainstream teacher looking to transition into specialist education.
SEN Art Teacher – Role Overview
* Deliver engaging and differentiated Art lessons across KS3–KS4
* Support students with ASD, SEMH and complex additional needs
* Manage behaviour using positive behaviour strategies and restorative approaches
* Adapt lessons to meet EHCP targets and individual learning needs
* Work closely with SEN TAs, therapists and pastoral teams
* Create a safe, structured and engaging learning environment
* Encourage creativity, confidence and emotional expression through Art
The Ideal Candidate
* QTS / QTLS or equivalent teaching qualification
* Experience teaching Art within SEN, PRU, AP or mainstream settings
* Strong behaviour management skills
* Experience supporting ASD, SEMH, ADHD or behavioural needs desirable
* Calm, resilient and adaptable approach
* Passionate about inclusive education and therapeutic practice
