Introduction
Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council invites applications for a Quantity Surveyor to join the Asset Management Directorate. The role supports the Repairs and Maintenance, Capital Investment and Compliance and Safety services, contributing to the management and improvement of over 28,000 homes in Sandwell.
Responsibilities
* Advise and lead on procurement, financial management and contractual matters.
* Lead on financial reporting for pre‑ and post‑contract administration.
* Provide commercial management of construction‑related works.
* Manage and supervise Assistant Quantity Surveyors.
* Shape, support and deliver on the objectives of the Quantity Surveying team.
Qualifications
* Excellent knowledge of the full procurement process within Local Government, including frameworks and digital platforms.
* Strong experience in quantity surveying, including financial management, cashflow management and estimating in construction.
* Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with Microsoft Office.
* Knowledge of construction methods used in housing.
* Ability to prioritise varying demands and work with a wide range of stakeholders.
* Construction‑related degree or equivalent professional qualification (Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or Construction Management).
* Minimum two years post‑graduate quantity surveying experience, covering pre‑ and post‑contract duties.
Hours & Working Arrangements
37 hours per week. Flexible working arrangements at management discretion; on‑site work minimum of two days per week or as required.
