Job Summary
Applications are invited for a clinical Fellow ST8 level post, offered by the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, based at Worcestershire Royal Hospital. This fixed‑term post runs for 12 months, starting February/March 2026.
Main Duties and Training
* 8 clinical sessions per week in the Cardiac Catheter Lab
* 1 emergency clinic per week
* Advanced percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) training
* Recruitment to current interventional cardiology trials
* Support the consultant with procedures and investigations with the aim of becoming an independent operator
* Maintain a training portfolio and procedure logbook
* Attend multidisciplinary team meetings
* Participate in recruitment, data management and audit projects for clinical trials
* PCIs on‑call approximately 1:7
* Mortality & morbidity case reviews
* Teach junior cardiology trainees

Qualifications
* MBBS or equivalent
* MRCP (full)
* ALS provider
* Full GMC registration with Licence to Practise at the time of appointment
* Desirable
* Completion of specialist training and entry onto GMC specialist register in Cardiology
Essential Requirements
* Understanding of current NHS environment and reforms
* Ability to meet travel requirements, returning to hospital within 30 minutes for non‑resident on‑call duties
* Workplace Health Clearance by appointment date
* Access to transport and ability to travel across hospital sites
* Organise and prioritise workload effectively
* Experience in audit management and conducting clinical audit
* Work effectively as a multidisciplinary team member, including under pressure
* Enquiring, critical approach with commitment to continuing medical education and professional development
* Effective communication with patients, relatives, GPs, nurses and other agencies
* Flexible, reliable, supportive to colleagues and able to work without supervision
* Availability for antisocial hours
* Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical problems

Teaching Experience
* Organise and deliver teaching across undergraduate curriculum
* Teach clinical skills to medical, nursing and other staff
* Audit principles knowledge with evidence of participation in audit projects
Professional Requirements
* At least 3 years full‑time post‑graduate training, with at least 2 years in a Cardiology training programme (completed or near completion)
* At least 5 years clinical experience within Cardiology
* Expert clinical opinion on emergency and elective specialty cases
* Full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
