Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry – Stafford IMHT

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Community Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry to join the Stafford Integrated Mental Health Team (IMHT) based in Stafford.
This role is part of a functionalised model in which patients requiring inpatient care, crisis or home treatment have their care temporarily transferred to the relevant pathway.
You will provide medical leadership within a collective leadership structure, support and supervise the Advanced Nurse Practitioner and Non-Medical Prescribers, and may supervise a trainee. There are also opportunities to participate in postgraduate and undergraduate education for Junior Doctors and medical students from Keele Medical School.
Your caseload will be approximately 90 patients. The multidisciplinary team includes 2.6 WTE Psychiatrists, 1.0 Advanced Clinical Practitioner, 6.8 WTE Nurses, 2.0 Nursing Associate, 1.8 WTE Occupational Therapists, 2.0 WTE Psychologists, 2.0 WTE Psychological Therapists, 2.0 Clinical Associate in Psychology, 4.0 WTE Healthcare Support Workers, 0.8 Peer Recovery Worker and 1 Team Manager. All Consultant Psychiatrists are supported in developing their ways of working within the MPFT Living Our Values Framework.
You will take part in out‑of‑hours duties; on‑call work is remunerated at 3% plus 0.25 APAs.
Main Duties of the Job
* Ensure, in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team, regular effective review of the care of patients in the clinical pathway – through individual assessments, follow‑up appointments, MDT meetings and, where required, Care Programme Approach reviews.
* Act as the Responsible Clinician for service users in the pathway subject to Community Treatment Orders.
* Provide evidence‑based care and adopt a recovery‑focused approach.
* Provide cross‑cover (emergency and prospective) for other Consultant Psychiatrist colleagues by mutual agreement.
* Communicate with all key partners, including service users, carers and General Practitioners, in an appropriate and timely manner.
* Comply with all Trust policies and the Living Our Values Framework.
Person Specification
* Qualifications
o Primary Medical Degree.
o Full GMC registration with licence to practice or eligibility for licence to practice if coming from overseas.
o Approved Clinician (AC) status or eligibility to obtain within 3 months of appointment.
o Additional qualification in a clinical area, management or education.
* Experience
o Clinical leadership/management experience at any level.
o Experience in setting up a new service.
* Skills
o Ability to provide leadership and vision in a changing environment.
o Awareness of lean methodology.
o Experience in lean methodology.
