We are looking for an experienced Environment, Health & Safety Officer to join the EHS team who will be responsible for providing health, safety and environmental technical knowledge and expertise to the business to ensure the company complies with Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience working within EHS in a manufacturing or metals industry, NEBOSH (or working towards) and Tech IOSH/Grad IOSH (or working towards). Other desirable qualifications include IEMA – Qualified Auditor to ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.
Duties:
* Responsible for implementing, monitoring and improving all business processes, policies and practice related to Health, Safety and Environmental compliance, promoting a high level of awareness and compliance in all aspects of health, safety and environmental management
* To provide Health, Safety and Environmental technical knowledge and expertise to the business
* Proactively identify HSE improvement opportunities/recommendations and implement new, systems policies and procedures as required
* Accident and incident investigations and reporting of any accidents or incidents to the HSE (in line with procedures)
* Fire Safety Compliance
* Managing environmental compliance (waste management permits etc)
* Preparation and distribution of environmental reports
* Site assessments and internal auditing
* Co-ordinate, conduct, train and assist others with site risk assessments
* Participate in all activities in relation to the achievement and maintenance of ISO and any other industry related standards
* Support waste / energy reduction projects as required
* Audits of contractors on site
* Control, review and maintain, as appropriate, all HSE records and procedures
* Maintain a safe working environment and actively support the continuing development of a safety culture across the site
* To advise the Head of HSE on the implications of current and emerging Health, Safety and Environmental legislation, including evaluating options for implementation
* Support managers to maintain safe systems, providing specialist advice, coaching and practical support
* Support regulatory interfaces local authorities and emergency services
* Host monthly HSE meetings and update minutes
