Salary: £25,185 to £27,254 per annum
Contract: Full time (37 hours per week), fixed term from 26 August 2026 to 25 August 2027
Location: Grassington (near Skipton), with regular travel across the National Park.
We’re looking for a Youth Engagement Trainee to join our friendly Access and Engagement Team. You’ll help deliver inspiring activities that support young people, particularly those who face barriers, to access, explore and connect with the Yorkshire Dales.

The Role
You’ll work closely with the Access and Engagement Project Officer to plan and deliver engaging sessions for young people, both in their local communities and across the National Park. You’ll also contribute to wider projects led by the Access and Engagement Team.
This traineeship will help you build valuable skills and experience for a future in outdoor learning, youth work, or community engagement. We’ll support you to shape your development around your interests and career aspirations.
This role involves working outdoors in all weathers and at weekends or bank holidays (with time off in lieu).
Key Responsibilities
* Learn how to plan and deliver inclusive outdoor activities for young people
* Support sessions that connect diverse young people with the Yorkshire Dales
* Help develop resources, activities or events linked to your interests
* Assist with monitoring and evaluation to understand impact and gather feedback
* Take part in training, development and regular reviews
* Support young people to share their experiences and develop their voice, helping them feel confident speaking about and promoting the National Park

* Passionate about the outdoors and making it accessible to everyone
* Friendly, curious, and a confident communicator
* Enthusiastic about working with young people from a wide range of backgrounds
* Interested in building a career in the environment or youth engagement sectors
* Confident using basic IT, with a willingness to learn
* Flexible and committed to delivering high-quality experiences in the community and outdoors

Access to a car or other means of mobility support to meet travel demands of the post is essential (if driving, must have a current valid driving licence and appropriate business insurance), as you will be required to travel within the Park in order to undertake this post.
