Commissioning Technician (Mechanical)
Reports to: Commissioning Manager
Main Purpose:
The Commissioning Technician plays a vital role in developing and implementing site commissioning arrangements across all aspects of site activities, including Installation, Commissioning, and Handover, supporting the overall project lifecycle.
This role is responsible for ensuring that all activities for the MENSA project are carried out in accordance with approved procedures as directed by the Commissioning Manager (or delegate). Any technical or safety concerns must be promptly reported to the supervisor.
Additionally, the Commissioning Technician will undertake specific tasks on behalf of the Commissioning function as required, including installation activities where necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
* Adhere to the agreed Commissioning Quality Management System, ensuring correct application of procedures, codes, and standards during commissioning activities.
* Provide functional input to Commissioning Deliverables.
* Accurately report job status to the Commissioning Manager (or delegate).
* Input commissioning documentation, including Test Documentation and Commissioning Reservations.
* Follow Safe Systems of Work (SSoWs) to perform tasks safely and report any safety issues.
* Execute commissioning tests in accordance with the project schedule.
* Ensure satisfactory completion of all commissioning execution records and results, maintaining control of all raw data associated with tests.
* Contribute to the compilation and review of Commissioning Low-Temperature Qualification Reports (LTQR) packages.
* Support the safe operation of the site, including engagement with ESH focus cards.
Required Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
* Recognised Level 3 qualification in a relevant engineering or construction discipline.
* IOSH Working Safely, IOSH Managing Safely, or CCNSG Safety Passport certification.
* Demonstrable mechanical commissioning experience.
* Valid CSCS-affiliated card.
Preferred Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
* Experience within the nuclear industry.
* Previous site commissioning experience, preferably within the nuclear sector.
* Relevant mechanical qualifications.
* Ability to read and interpret schematic drawings.
Additional Information:
* All candidates must be eligible for Security Clearance (SC). Candidates may commence employment with BPSS clearance provided SC is actively underway.
* Applicants must have lived and worked in the UK for the past five years.
* Location: Burghfield, RG30 3RR.
* IR35 Status: Inside.
* Contract Duration: 26 weeks.
* Full-time, site-based role operating on an 11 shifts on, 3 shifts off rota.
* Note: This role will commence as a day shift position but is expected to transition to night shifts.
* Workers must hold a valid CSCS/ECS card prior to starting.
