Manufacturing Supervisor – £55,000 – Stockport
A well-established engineering and defence manufacturing business is seeking a skilled Manufacturing Supervisor to lead a high-performing production team at their site in Stockport.
This permanent position offers the opportunity to play a key role in delivering quality products on time and to cost, while championing a culture of continuous improvement. The successful candidate will lead by example, ensuring that health, safety, quality, and delivery standards are consistently met across the shop floor.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise day-to-day manufacturing operations to meet schedule, quality, and cost targets
Drive continuous improvement across production processes and team performance
Lead safety, health, and environmental (SHE) activities in line with company policy
Manage resource planning, shift cover, and cross-functional redeployment as required
Conduct daily team briefings and maintain local KPI boards (SQCDP)
Report production performance and initiate recovery actions when needed
Support employee development through on-the-job coaching and training
Maintain workplace standards and audit readiness
Ensure adherence to quality management systems and manufacturing procedures
Key Requirements:
Degree or HND in a Manufacturing or Engineering discipline
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a supervisory role within a manufacturing environment
Strong leadership skills and experience managing risk in a production setting
Familiarity with aerospace, automotive, or precision engineering sectors
Excellent communication, organisational, and structured problem-solving skills
Working knowledge of SAP and MRP systems (desirable)
IOSH or NEBOSH certification (desirable)
Proficiency in MS Office applications
