Job Description
The GPA maintains and operates a data warehouse that stores data from its various systems and allows the data to be re-used and integrated with other systems to support business processes via it's data integration layer. The data also supports business and management information. The Data Platform & Data Integrations Lead will support the Head of Business Information & Data to ensure the data platforms function effectively, are developed and maintained and supported by the Data Architecture Lead.As a data driven organisation, the Data Platform & Data Integrations Lead is essential to assure that data is available for the various systems that create and consume data within GPA. This is especially important as many of the GPA systems require 'flavours' of the same data. Without a rigorous approach to allow data to be 'created once and re-used many times' we would be creating ambiguities in data provenance and inefficiencies in multiple point to point integrations.The role is based out of Birmingham, Bristol or Swindon and operates a Hybrid working model.The Data Platform & Data Integrations lead will ensure:
3. The integrity and security of the data in a central (cloud hosted) data warehouse environment
4. Oversee the design and integration of new data feeds into and out of the data warehouse
5. Maintain existing data feeds into and out of the data estate (data integration pipelines, data lake and data warehouse)
6. The reliability and operation of the data warehouse environment
7. Ensuring that the GPA data warehouse operates in an efficient and reliable manner
8. Coordinating system improvements and changes, such as a new system integration through an agile development process
9. Managing the team of contractors delivering the underpinning architecture for the data warehouse
10. Leading on the creation and review of artefacts that form part of the Data Warehouse TDA process (Triage Requests, Business Requirements, High Level Design, Low Level Design)
11. Working with the Digital team to ensure data flows to/from GPA systems
12. Supporting the Chief Technical Architect and Head of Data on the delivery of the GPA data strategy

The Successful Applicant
Essential criteria:
17. Proven experience in managing data warehouses and data integration projects.
18. Extensive experience designing ETL / ELT data pipelines
19. Strong understanding of cloud-based data architectures.
20. Experience with agile project management and system integration.
21. Excellent leadership and team management skills - including managing contractors and cross-functional teams.
22. Knowledge of data security, data governance, and data integrity practices.
23. Effective stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
24. Ability to develop and review technical requirements and design documentation.
25. Awareness of government and public sector data policies and standards.
26. Graduate level qualification in computer science, system engineering or similar
27. Working in an agile environment
Desirable criteria:
28. Experience working within the civil service or government-related organisations.
29. Experience of AWS technology stack
30. Knowledge of specific systems used within GPA, such as CRM, Horizon, Salesforce Planon, and financial systems.
31. Familiarity with data governance frameworks and regulatory requirements relevant to government data.
32. Experience leading strategic data initiatives aimed at organisational transformation.
33. Training on system design practices such as TOGAF and RM-ODP
34. Gold Standard: IT & Data Management - CITP / CsyP
35. Certifications in data management, cloud technology, or project management (e.g., AWS, Azure, PRINCE2, Agile).
