Main purpose of the role & responsibilities in the business: As a Platform Solution Architect (Manager) in Kainos, you’ll be responsible for leading multi-skilled agile teams to design and deliver high quality solutions on public cloud which delight our customers. You’ll work with customer architects and colleagues to design, automate, build and support modern digital service platforms. You’ll estimate effort and advise on the impact of technical decisions surrounding technology choices. You’ll lead with the creation of policy and standards, provide assurance across Kainos delivery projects and share knowledge with and mentor those around you. You’ll continually be learning about new technologies and exploring how to adopt them for customer benefit.
Responsibilities
* Championing a DevOps culture — lead colleagues in engineering, testing, consulting, product management and security capabilities to design solutions of the highest quality which meet all non-functional requirements; ensure delivery project success.
* Championing technology for positive impact — stay informed about latest technologies/tools and advocate their use for benefit within and outside Kainos.
* Developing Kainos as a business — contribute to technology strategy and help identify, qualify and win new opportunities.
* Providing leadership — provide technical leadership across projects; be hands-on when needed and make difficult but necessary decisions.
* Being opinionated — offer constructive critique to improve solution quality and proactively share knowledge internally and with the industry.
* Being a role model — support colleagues, align individual and team needs with Kainos values, and drive successful projects.
* Putting people first & developing others — manage, coach and develop a small number of senior staff, focusing on performance and career development.
Minimum (essential) Requirements
* Excellent verbal and written communications skills; able to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
* Strong prioritisation and time management; ability to work across multiple major projects.
* Proven ability to lead teams and foster a DevOps culture.
* Demonstrated ability in managing, coaching and developing senior team members.
* Delivering modern digital service platforms in production environments with ownership of outcomes.
* Prioritising non-functional concerns and incorporating them into platform design.
* Significant expertise using multiple public cloud platforms (AWS and Azure) to build solutions across various domains and integrating native SaaS/PaaS.
* Understanding of whole solution architecture concepts and using latest CD techniques for production-ready releases.
* Experience with container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes) and cloud-native tooling.
* Proactive development of business within an account with sales and account managers.
* Proven experience delivering technology at scale (project or multi-team programme) and driving outcomes.
Desirable
* Third level qualification or equivalent in a related discipline.
* Certifications with a public cloud provider (AWS/Azure) and/or CNCF.
* Actively shares thoughts on technology internally and externally.
* Automation tooling proficiency with one or more of: PowerShell, Bash, Python, Ruby, Go, Groovy.
