The Faculty of Economics and Selwyn College are seeking an Abdey Isaac Newton Trust Academic Career Development Fellow for a fixed three‑year term commencing September 2026.
This fellowship offers exceptional scholars the opportunity to develop an independent research project while contributing to teaching and research within a Faculty and College environment. Fellows will be employed in two co‑terminous appointments: a 26‑hour‑per‑week Faculty appointment (including the research component) and a 11‑hour‑per‑week College appointment.
Responsibilities
* Enjoy protected time for an independent research project.
* Be embedded in the Faculty research and teaching culture.
* Teach in small college groups.
* Act as a College Director of Studies in years 2 and 3 of the fellowship (where selected).
* Teach undergraduate and/or Masters students in a Faculty setting.
* Be mentored by Faculty members in academic skills, including teaching, research, publication, grant applications, and academic administration.
Qualifications
* Early‑career researcher with less than three years’ experience post‑PhD (or equivalent) or a submitted dissertation.
* Proven record of research in any field of economics and solid foundation for teaching core and optional courses, including Quantitative Methods and Econometrics.
* Ability to propose a personal research project appropriate for the duration of the fellowship.
* Enthusiasm for teaching at all levels and capacity to balance competing priorities.
* Strong interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with students, academic, and professional staff across the collegiate University.
Salary and Benefits
Successful candidates will be employed on University Grade 7 for Research Associates, starting at £38,636–47,200 per annum.
Fellows are expected to participate in the social and intellectual life of Selwyn College by attending academic events and contributing to teaching and research activities.
