Work type: Permanent role. Working full time, 37 hours per week, Monday Friday between a working window of 8:00am-6:00pm.

Where you fit in?
Within the Internal Communications and Engagement team our goal is to make sure our colleagues hear the right message, at the right time and in the right way. As an Internal Communications Advisor, you'll be overseeing our communication channels and platforms across our digital and in-person portfolio. Youll be helping us develop and manage our channels to make sure theyre beautifully on brand, impactful, coordinated and of exceptional quality helping us share our latest news and information to colleagues across the organisation at all levels.
As Internal Communications Advisor you will work closely with the Lead Internal Communications Advisor and the wider team to drive continuous improvement and innovation through our central communications channel framework to enable the delivery of effective, creative & engaging communications for colleagues. Youll help manage our day-to-day and future focused content plans, supporting in the delivery of company-wide communications campaigns, organise touchpoints with our leaders and colleagues both digitally and virtually, and youll get a chance to flex your creative muscles in content writing and creation and more.
You'll be the teams key link to make sure our messages are coordinated across channels and to help deliver our message to those who need to hear it the most. Youll keep us on the front foot in terms of innovation, driving continuous improvement across our established suite of communication channels (and have the opportunity to create and lead new channels entirely).
Youll spend your days working closely within the team but also with stakeholders from every corner of the organisation, supporting them in achieving their communication goals and building ownership. Youll also keep everyone in the team planned with what content is shared where and when. Youll play a critical part in helping us tell our story and both land and embed change through our central communications function.
Our role as communicators is more important than ever before and we play a big part in helping our 4,500 colleagues join us in that journey.
Focusing on our channels, you will develop our communication channels to maximise engagement and drive co-creation across the business to share insight and provide opportunity for feedback.
Youll also ensure that our story connects everything we do and that our look, feel and tone of voice is present across the business for colleagues.
Some of the key role responsibilities include the following
Manage our communications channel framework to ensure colleagues hear the right message in the right way, at the right time
Working to achieve success across a number of our hero channels, from face to face events with senior leaders and colleagues, to virtual monthly sessions with our entire leadership population
Discover and lead on opportunities for improving our channels in terms of content, delivery method and technological / digital considerations as appropriate
Establish clear processes for quality control, branding, tone of voice and more across our channels
Support our goal to tell stories that our people will engage with that align our vision and behaviours to the day-to-day operational demands and customer-facing challenges of the business
Provide strategic internal communications channel strategy support on projects across the business both large and small
Strategic thinking to help us connect the dots for the wider business, from leaders to colleagues, so that our story makes sense to everyone who works at Yorkshire Water
Support the broad range of activities and projects across our organisation through your expertise in channel strategy and internal communications
Put our colleagues at the heart of our communications content to drive engagement and establish clear goals to measure our success and demonstrate our value
What skills & qualifications are we looking for?
The successful candidate will have a proven background within an internal communications environment and previous experience of managing and developing internal communications channels and associated plans, strategies, processes and activities. Theyd also have experience in managing strategic and tactical communications and engagement plans.
You will be confident in what message should go where, when and to who challenging our thinking to bring out our best. You will be able to pro-actively drive and create content that colleagues want to engage with. A skilled story-teller you will be able to deliver complex business messages in a creative and compelling way. You will be able to understand audience needs, motivations, environment and perspectives and be knowledgeable in regards new digital trends to adapt and deploy to our communications channels effectively. Also ensuring our story connects everything we do and that our look, feel and tone of voice is present across the business for colleagues is really important to us.
Youll be a proactive person with excellent communication skills, you will be able to build up effective working relationships with a range of colleagues and positively influence at all levels within the business. Previous experience of presenting, influencing and engaging a wide range of audiences is key, be that from our frontline to our most senior leaders.
You will have strong organisational skills able to prioritise, organise and plan work and have good project management skills with the ability to prioritise and deliver high quality work against challenging timescales. Additionally, we pride ourselves on adapting to what works best for our colleagues, so experience of understanding and measuring success is critical in improving what we do as a function.
We embrace a flexible working model, where our hybrid setup typically requires an average of 1 day in the office per week. This could be slightly more when collaborative efforts, training or meeting deadlines demand it. For those who prefer to work on-site, our office is open Monday-Friday during working hours
