Every year our work includes performing 10,000 procedures in our theatres; bringing seven and a half thousand new lives into the world; carrying out 570,000 visits to patients in their homes or communities and providing emergency care for more than 300,000 patients arriving in our busy Urgent and Emergency Departments.

LGT is a centre for the education and training of medical students enrolled with King’s College London’s GKT School of Medical Education. We are a training centre for nurses, midwives and allied health professionals. We are pioneering new roles that will support the changing needs of our patients and are one of the largest employers of physician associates in the country.

This means playing an active role in the South East London Integrated Care System (ICS), and in formal partnerships including the South East London Acute Provider Collaborative, provider partnerships with our local mental health trusts and borough-based boards of the ICS in Bexley, Greenwich and Lewisham.

The Imaging Department is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and adaptable individual with experience in clerical and administration duties to provide maternity leave cover for 12 months within the Women's Health Service.

The post holder will provide a comprehensive and efficient reception and, examinations booking service to patients attending the Women's Health Services Department. You will have to respond to and deal with a variety of often complex requests in a timely manner, whether by telephone, email or in person.

Main duties of the job

1. To provide a front line reception service to patients attending for obstetric ultrasound and other imaging procedures.
2. To ensure the successful preparation of appointments covering all imaging modalities and sites following guidelines consistent with requested examination, book patients at the reception, and liaise with staff in the department.
3. Responsible for handling and assisting patients/visitors with queries of a sensitive nature, explaining procedures in laymen's terms, what to expect in procedures in the absence of clinical staff, emphasising the examination requirements as per agreed procedures.
4. Managing phone queries from patients, other hospital staff and GPs. Ensuring any information is acted upon promptly including updating Soliton and/or other patient administration systems accordingly.
5. Responsible for maintenance of the waiting list and advising the Imaging Officer Coordinator of any issues especially possible breaches before they arise so that actions can be taken early to ensure breaches do not occur.
6. Responsible for maintaining departmental hours of service and covering other team members during holiday or other absences and offering assistance to other clerical staff in all areas including cross site working when required.

12. NVQ3 or equivalent
13. Good general education to include GCSE/CSE English, or equivalent experience

Skills Knowledge

14. Excellent use of a computer / keyboard skills
15. Able to organise and prioritise own work schedule
16. Ability to work under pressure in a busy working environment and to be able to work independently and as part of a team
17. Good attention to detail for accurate input of data

20. Demonstrable experience in dealing with the public in sensitive and confidential information
